The newest Apache license that I am aware of is 1.1 which definitely still has the acknowledgment clause.

Oops. My mistake. I think I need some sleep. I wouldn't say its an "issue" for me... I was under the mistaken impression, I guess, that they had done away with that part. I've been seeing more BSD licenses lately so I must have gotten confused. I don't like it because by requiring the acknowledgement it sort of takes the meaning out of it... like my wife saying "do you love me" versus my spontaneously saying "I love you." If I know a programmer *had* to say I got something from using this product, I take that with less that weight than when I read (paraphrased) "I'm not required to acknowledge this product I used, but I want to because it is really a great product."

It's not an "issue" like I won't use the api with the current license though... more of a curiosity.

Thanks, Kevin
