So I'd like to gather more information about putting together a
weather station. It has to be able to work on a Mac and it has to
work with Xastir or I'm not going to bother. I'd love to hear the
thoughts of anyone who has a Mac and has gotten a station up with
Xastir. Tell me what weather hardware you have and what daemon you're
using.
From the Xastir.org website, looking at the Major Features web page,
I the following options:
* Radio Shack using wx200d daemon
* Huger using wx200d daemon
* Oregon Scientific using wx200d daemon
* 1-wire weather using 1-wire daemon
* Davis using mysql and Meteo daemon
* LaCross using mysql and Open2300 daemon
The Peet Bros stuff doesn't list a daemon and I can't tell if it's
Mac compatible. Same for Qualimetrics. Going to the various web pages
for the daemons I can't tell which ones are, or are not, compatible
with Mac OS X. Theoretically any of them could work, but before I
sink the money in hardware I'd like to know from someone who has been
successful in getting it to work.
I don't have mysql installed yet, but it looks like an easy install
to get 5.0.38 installed using Fink (my normal package manager of
choice). I don't see any of the weather daemons mentioned above
listed in Fink, so the install will have to be manual. (Let me know
if you had to do any manual tweaks to get the install to work.)
