Hm, that's ok, it simply connects with username and password and closes
the connection.

But it's working if you check mail with POP3 and later send them by hand?
If not this is a problem of your configuration, but if it does the problem
is not completely fixed. Did you specify which POP3 server to connect
before sending mail? (pop3-prefs)
