Ooooh, good idea.  I may opt for this instead of patches between the
unofficial versions.  There may be one drawback, though:  I think all of
the core source files are changed in x-mame (comments are adjusted from //
to /* */, and ^M might also be stripped), so the patch in this case might
still be huge.
