[Xmame] xmame more than 1 joystick (xpad)

Hi,

I've got 2 xbox controllers working in linux and indiviually they work
fine with xmame using the following from the command line:
xmame.x11 -jt 1 -jdev /dev/input/js1 /path/to/rom.zip

But that only allows me to use 1 joystick (xbox pad) at a time, is it
possible to use both at the same time for 2 player games?
