Thanks for your help.
This time everything went OK until the "make display". The last thing, "make 
install" didn't
work. Let me type what appeared to me, so you could please think of 
something:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] xmame-0.106]# make install
Installing binaries under /usr/local/bin...
/usr/bin/install -d -o root -g bin -m  755 /usr/local/bin
/usr/bin/install -c -o root -g bin -m  555 xmame.x11 /usr/local/bin
/usr/bin/install: cannot stat `xmame.x11': No such file or directory

"Make display..." showed no problems, but it seems something is not going 
well...????
If possible, could you try to think something?

First,download the source code archive from

http://x.mame.net/download.html

then unpack it

"tar -jxf xmame-x.x.tar.bz2"

Enter the source code directory

"cd xmame-x.x"

then

"make DISPLAY_METHOD=SDL"

"make install"
