I haven't been able to get sdlmame to use Xv, and have concluded that it isn't possible. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though. Afaict, sdlmame gives me the 'soft' driver (which uses a horrendous amount of cpu to scale to full screen - 15fps in galaga) or the 'opengl' driver (which is usable but not as fast as Xv in xmame). So for me, Xv in xmame is the killer feature, and I'd be annoyed to be left without it. If someome could show me some magical environment variable or compile option that would give the same capability in sdlmame, I'd have no problems switching. In case anyone's wondering, I've tried this on sdlmame built on i386 Ubuntu edgy. Its SDL_config.h has SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER_X11_XV set to 1.
