[Xmame] Xmame .106 and Open GL Problems w/ati

I bought a Matrox G400 recently to upgrade my Voodoo Banshee card (I don't have much money!) which wouldn't run opengl properly. With xmame, the Matrox card worked well, except when displaying artwork/bezels/overlays, but otherwise it would work fine. However in Quake 1, the screen would be messed up (using the glquake version), and a few other quirks in opengl programs, when running accelerated.

Talking to my brother, he had an ATI Radeon 7000 to give me, and I put that in yesterday. Quake runs perfectly, as do my other programs. However, Xmame now flickers/tears in this weird triangle pattern, and no matter what settings I use, I can't get it to be fixed. If I run at different refresh rates, I can get the flicker pattern to change, but I can't get rid of it.

My hope is to solve this problem and eventually use this computer/video card in a cabinet.

GL mode works in Mplayer, so I know the overlay is doing fine.... and no other programs have a problem.

Also, if I switch to xvideo mode, the program will crash and reboot the entire x server.

I tried both the ati and radeon drivers in my xorg.conf (running xorg 6.9)...

Any help would be appreciated, and sorry if this has been discussed before... I searched for awhile, and only found one post describing my problem on google, but the answer wasn't posted.
