Can you get the manufacturer part number off of the chips from the seller?
Or the chip configuration? Does 16 X 32 mean 16M X 32? That doesn't sound
quite right. That would be 64 MB per chip and times 8 chips would be 512 MB, not
256 MB.

------------------------------

You are correct that the stated 16x32 8 chips do not add up to 256 MB.

After the reading the fine print I discovered this is a "kit" of four (4) 64
MB RAM
modules -- not the one module I expected. Sorry, my mistake.

More searching revealed a true 256 MB RAM module. It was (perhaps still
is?) manufactured by Peripheral Enhancements p/n APLPM00256M6100. According to
their web site RAM modules are part of their EDGE memory products. However
neither
their site nor the product description at:

http://hardwarecentral.dealtime.com/xPF-Peripheral_Enhancements_256_MB_APLPM00
256M6100

(no line space in the link)

revealed any detailed chip information, not even speed.

NOTE: the product description states "This memory was designed
for the Apple Power Macintosh PowerMac 6100/60, 6100/60av, 6100/66,
6100/66av."

The one source listed as a supplier is "out of stock" and even if these
modules are
still being sold, there is no way I would spend the $129 each to buy them.

I also found a Kingston 256 MB RAM module p/n KTHDSVR/512 with no mention of
Mac
compatibility. These are also out stock. The selling price on these ranged
from $830
to $2670 each!!

Unless there is some affordable way of attaining the 520 MB RAM upgrade I
will be
happy to stay with the 264 MB I have in my 6100's. It provides all the RAM I
actually need.

Sa' pose I could check eBay.

Really want to thank you for your time and the information provided --glen
