Best guess would be the version prefers to work with PowerPC machines. The slowness to load's gonna be an issue with the 68040 processor. Dunno how your finances are, but there are a bunch of Power Macs out there, and Umaxes, going for little money. Maybe it's time to switch up to a faster machine.
