got an8100, newertech G3(300Mhz), seagate 9G ST39216N, ultra SCSI, narrow, 50 pin, currently connected to a nubus jackhammer
the specs on the disk say it can dish out 20MBs per sec http://www.drives.net/ST39216N.htm got the following timing figures from FWB hard disk toolkit 4.5 - pre jackhammer, using sys board, bus 0, 4.5 MBs per sec - using jackhammer, comes up as bus 2, tests out at 9.1 MBs per sec heard rumors that nubus limitations would top out at 10MBs per sec - any way to more than 9MBs per sec out of my current drive, w/o striping, etc - was wondering if a 68 pin F/W drive can go over 10MBs connected to a jackhammer given the nubus rumors. anyone got one to try out ??? also any other ideas to speed up my aging 8100, w/G3, might be looking for a G4 soon TIA, jim oh, still wasn't able to get the jackhammer to work on my 8100/80. it did work on my 8100/100, but due to the lower bus speed on the 8100/100 the 300 MHz G3 is now a 266, SIGH....... -- 1st-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
