No, upgrading the processor won't help do what you want. If you want to get around the stupid 8 GB OS X boot partition limitation, you need to buy a new ATA card. This will also help speed up disk input and output, since the ATA built-in to the motherboard is now quite dated.
I like the Acard ATA cards, btw.
