Hi all, I was given (almost, paid 25 euros for it) a beige G3/300 tower lately and try to get it going. So far no joy. I'd like to make this my main machine as I can put in a lot of cheap memory and big cheap harddisks as well as a USB-card, even get FireWire. This post is not totally OT as my girl-friend will be happy with my trusty 7100/80 with Crescendo 400 Mhz-card. She's using my old 6100 with the same Crescendo-upgrade which has become flaky, the darn thing will only start every once in a while ...
The G3-tower has 128 meg of RAM (64 megs in banks 1 and 2 each), its UW-SCSI-card was pulled together with the 4 gig UW-SCSI-harddisk. I checked the PRAM-battery which is OK and connected a SCSI-Narrow-harddisk with MacOS 8.6 (which also starts up my 7100) to the external SCSI-bus and an old (but good) 15-inch Apple Portrait Display to the mobo-video. After pushing the power-on I hear the fan whirring but don't get a bong. A tech already checked the power supply which seems OK. Any hints what I could try to get this baby going? TIA, cheers, Jrg. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo!
