> Is there a conflict with Newer Technology Maxpowr G3/G4 version 2.0.5 cache > enabler extension and MacOS 9.1?
That's the MAXpowr extension (enables the accelerator) you're referring to, correct? Never heard it called a "cache enabler" before. The Startup Disk control panel that got installed with 9.1 was a bit flakey if I recall correctly (it's been a while). But my Software Update control panel log does not forget. You can see your update log by bringing up the Software Update control panel and giving the Update -> Display Log... command (from the menu). On my system, the Startup Disk CP was updated on 03/25/01 to version 9.2.1. So I'd try running the Software Update CP and having it install that update (assuming it's not already installed), as well as any other updates that come up. Hopefully, Apple is still providing this service because I haven't gotten any update notices this way since June of 2002. Most of the time I have the Software Update CP and extensions (all 2 of them) disabled these days. FYI - My 8100 has a NewerTech G3 (with the 2.0.5 extension) and the Startup Disk CP works fine. If you can't get it through the Software Update CP (or don't want to), you should be able to download manually from Apple Support web site. Just search on "Startup Disk 9.2.1". Side Note: A while back, I posted a listing of ALL the specific updates I have received through the Software Update CP since installing Mac OS 9.1. In other words, a list of the unique items shown on my log. Since I always used the Software Update CP to install updates, that list should show every recommended update to Mac OS 9.1 since its initial release (except QuickTime, which has its own CP). My post should be in the list archive, but I can post it again if anyone needs it. I know that some people prefer to install updates manually. - Ken -- 1st-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
