I just received some old ImageWriter II printers, to use on PowerMac 5260s. I am operating fairly blind, I was able to DL a user's guide from the internet, though.
The self test for the printer works. I selected the Imagewriter in the Extensions manager and in the Chooser.
I open up Claris works and try to print a test page. When I hit Print, the paper feeds through the printer, the ribbon cartridge doesn't move an inch.
What do I need to be doing to get this to print???
The first thing I would do is to check the status page (I think it prints with a self-test) to see if the Appletalk option (AT option) is installed. If it is, then you need to use the Appletalk Imagewriter extension and connect the printer via LocalTalk (phone net connectors), although a DIN8 to DIN8 cable will do in a pinch.
Also, there is a bank of DIP switches under one of the covers. You should check that these are set properly. Again, I think the manual will tell you the correct settings, though they are different depending on whether the printer is stock, or if there is an AT option installed.
Your problem could be something else, but this is fairly easy to check.
