My suggestion is always take the back top of the paper coverer off and NEVER leave the printer if you are printing long documents. You need to be there when the thing jams up and stop it quickly. Figure out the last best page, then print again form 37 to 1000, if you don't know exactly how long the job is.
Generally, I print not more than 10 pages at a time. Then make sure the paper is adjusted right, and then print another 10 pages.
What happens, is the printer will jam while you are away and it will print line after line on top of each other. Not fun.
I have picked up lots of neat Imagewriter ribbons at junk stores for little of nothing. I have reinked them too, but it is a messy job and not that reliable. Most ribbons, you will only get a couple of through good printings and then they become light. Flimsy ribbons.
