an imagewriter can be either plain serial, or it can have an apple talk card in which 
case
there's a switch inside to select between them (don't remember which one, should be in 
the
manual, if not email me and i'll dig up my cheat sheet).  or you can just try the other
driver, there should be one called imagewriter, and one called something like "apple 
talk
imagewriter".  in any case, it's an interface problem of some sort, most likely what 
i've
described, though if you try to use appletalk that appletalk has to be turned on and 
set
for the port the printer is on (modem and printer ports are interchangeable, it's just 
a
convenience that they are labeled that way).  of course, you also need the right 
cable, an
apple talk phone net cable will only work with an appletalk printer, a serial cable 
will
actually work fine for either.
