Gur gives some pretty odd looking specs for ram for the Pro 630; 8,16,20,32, but no 24. 8 is achieved by the one factory installed simm. 16 is not achieved by adding another 8 mg stick, but by replacing the 8 with a 16. 20 requires a 4 and a 16 and 32, two 16's. I think mine is going to be happy with 8. >>
Eight is usually enough. (I use 24 on my LJ 4M). The first 630 slot supports single and double bank sticks; the second supports single bank sticks only. The same Canon EX marking engine is used in the LJ 4; the 16/600 and the LJ 4+ use the quite similar Canon EX+ marking engine. The 16/600 and both LJs use an AMD 29000 RISC processor; the 630 uses a Moto CISC processor (68xx030, IIRC). >> Next question. From time to time the printer does not fully eject a printed page, leaving it stuck a few inches in the slot and causing a wrinkled lower third of the page. What do you think might cause this, and how might it be remedied? >> Rollers. Suspect them all. They're so small in diameter on units after the LW/LW+ that these wear at a much higher rate than on the early machines. >> Next question; what is the little green brush designed to brush? >> It's supposed to be for cleaning the laser imaging window. (Same comment for the LJ 4 and LJ 4+). A similar brush in the LW and LW+ was for cleaning the transfer corona wire. (Same comment for the LJ and LJ+). -- 1st-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
