I have this Yamaha 8424S installed in the 6100/66 OS 8.1 toast 4.1.2 updated firmware to 1.0j. Suddenly the drive cannot read or write, but the toast can still detect d drive. The SCSI Pro can detect it, when I select mount, it says it mounts succesfully, but cannot see the CD icon on the desktop. When I ran toast, it says no Cd on the recorder. This previously read and write discs, it just suddenly cannot detect the disc. I already clean the lens w/ a soft tissue using only the tip, I also reinstalled everything from OS to toast but still cannot read or write. I this drive already "dead". Pls. advise.
