what did you originally format it with?  if you are very lucky, you can reinstall just 
the
driver (don't format, most formatting programs will let you just reinstall the 
driver). 
failing that, boot on another drive with this one connected and see if norton can save
anything (it has several search modes), you might get lucky.  baring that, get a hold 
of
kyle hansen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, he knows of a good recovery company and can get a
discount (it's not cheap, though if easy it's not too bad apparently..).  good luck, 
and
not to be a smart *ss, but i'd really take along a cd burner next time, since cd's are
harder to break, and a briefcase for that drive might be a good idea as well, though 
i've
made huge mistakes before myself so i sympathize.
