I think it's a bit of a crapshoot. Some 6100's behave, some don't. I had 3x 6100/60's that came as a job lot. Most of them booted after a few goes, but one was stuborn. However, my old 6100/66 absolutely refused to boot unless you turned it on, let it chime, left if for a couple of minutes and then cycled the power again. Sometimes that worked first time, more often it didn't. What it the correct setting? I have a 9500MP too, and I always find MacOS 8.1 a bit sluggish on it (9.1 seems an awful lot faster...)
