I think it's a bit of a crapshoot. Some 6100's behave, some don't. I had 3x
6100/60's that came as a job lot. Most of them booted after a few goes, but
one was stuborn. However, my old 6100/66 absolutely refused to boot unless
you turned it on, let it chime, left if for a couple of minutes and then
cycled the power again. Sometimes that worked first time, more often it
didn't. As soon as the battery was replaced, it booted from then on with
zero problems.

I've never realy touched this panel, save turning on/off virtual memory.
What it the correct setting? I have a 9500MP too, and I always find MacOS
8.1 a bit sluggish on it (9.1 seems an awful lot faster...)
