This conjures up images of an item that is perhaps physically similar
in size / shape to an adapter that would switch to a vga monitor.

Thanks for getting it identified.  At least this info gives me some
good starting points.  Anybody happen to have one?

...and yeah, I'm gonna post to swap list too after I check with the
