go to <http://www.atpm.com/network/>, aka "3 macs and a printer" for an excellent
tutorial. basically, you'll need ethernet connections and a router/switch/hub (a
simple
hub would probably be fine unless you plan on added more machines later, in which case
a
switch will speed things up if several people are using different computers).

for the 6400 you'll need a pci or "com slot" ethernet card, for the "9100", i'm not
sure
what you'll need, if it has built in ethernet you can use what's built in but you may
need
an aaui to 10bt adapter (should be $5+shipping on the swap list). if it doesn't have
built in ethernet you'll need an ethernet card, either 10bt or 100bt. the ethernet
cards
should also be cheap on the swap list, about $5 for 10bt and $15-20 for a 100bt card.
also make sure the hub you buy can handle 100bt if you go for the higher speed, the
older
ones only handled 10bt. you should also be able to get a hub cheap on the swap list or
ebay, i'd make a "wtb" post on the swap list. and of course you'll also need ethernet
cables, again they should be cheap on the swap list.

you can also go wireless, but unless the machines are in different rooms and you don't
want to run cable it's not worth the added price, and can always be added later if you
decide you want it (but be aware that the wireless systems do have security faults,
though
the most recent standard hasn't been hacked too badly yet as far as i know).
