p.s., if you want to go really cheap, you can just use a crossover cable between the 
macs
and use one as a print server for both machines with the printer hooked up to a serial
port, apple has a freeware program to do this and i believe it's built into the later 
os
versions.  unfortunately, if you decide to add macs, you'll definitely need a hub, 
unless
you go 10b2 which is an older standard that uses coax cable to connect the macs 
together. 
unfortunately coaxial cables are more expensive so it's likely cheaper to use a hub 
and a
10bt or 100bt system (and the 2 speeds can be combined as long as your hub can handle 
both speeds).
