Hello,
I have a mac 9100 finally up. I am back online. I am now working on getting a 6400 back up. Can someone tell me the steps and equipment I would need so that my 9100 computer would see the harddrive of the 8100 and use that harddrive. I also want to be able to have a separate monitor for the 6400 if I did not want to use it this way. I want to be able to do both. I also want to be able to access a laser printer for both. Thank you for your help.
The 9100 and 8100 both have built in Ethernet. You will need AAUI to 10BaseT transceivers for both. The 6400 may come with an Ethernet card, you'll have to look. If it doesn't you'll need to add one. You have your choice of using a CommSlot II, PDS or PCI card for it. You'll need cables for all and a switch or hub. Or if you have broadband access you could use a router with built in switch. Connecting the LaserPrinter depends on the model. If it has Ethernet just connect it with the others. If it has LocalTalk you can use either a hardware Ethernet to LocalTalk bridge or Apple's free LocalTalk Bridge software.
