Printer Weirdness

I am using a Performa 6116 CD, System 8.5, Sonnet G3 upgrade, to 
write this. I also have a PowerBook 1400cs, same system and a Sonnet 
G3 for it as well. Both are hooked on a LocalTalk network to a 
LaserWriter IIf that has more than 8 megs of memory (32 I think).

Here's the weirdness. If I print from the PowerBook, I have no 
problems. But if I print from the Performa, it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to 
print a simple project (like a half hour or longer sometimes). Same 
system, same control panels and extensions, used the same system 8.5 
installation disk on the same day, did clean install.

When printing from the Performa, PrintMonitor spends a huge amount of 
time "Preparing data." From the PowerBook, zip, and it's done!

Does anyone have any suggestions?
