7100cx heat venting

I have had a 7100/80 (with a HPV in) rigged in a IIcx case (i hate 7100 
cases!!) now for a while. A bit ago i stopped using it because it kept 
locking up on me all the time. I have it in a desk with a 14" Colour 
Display on it. Could it be hindering the ventilation? I'm pretty sure 
the 601/80 gets quite hot, and he HPV could well too. The only other 
(unrelated) thing it might be is the RAM, but I've tested all the slot 
RAM and am praying it's not the RAM on the board.

Any ideas - I know it's a bit of an odd-ball question!
