As you pointed in your first mail, the most probable causes for aleatory
hangs are bad RAM and temperature problems. But there are other possible
causes also. In "modern" systems that do virtual memory, a single disk
failure while reading or writing the page file is enough to kill the system.
If you suspect that the SCSI cables/connectors may be damaged and it locked
while moving it, you may be pointing in right direction. Boot your 7100 with
the cover removed, touch gently the drive cable while loading an app or doing
other memory-intensive task and see if it freezes. Also try to disable
virtual memory and see if the freezes continue or become less frequent.
