probably the power supply, in any case, the expensive smoke came out of some part and 
it's
hell to put the smoke back in.  seriously, it's more than likely a cap or diode blown 
in
the power supply, and that probably happened because of age of capacitors overloading
things.  by the way, that smoke is not a great thing to breath, you should definitely 
air
it out when something like that happens.  it's not terrible to be exposed once, but it
definitely won't help you.
