Hi Mark, Chuck and all the others who offered advice,

Many many thanks.

I have had it all apart including the power supply unit itself. (And not a
skinned knuckle... yet... !)

There looked nothing amiss on the MoBo but the fuse had blown in the power
supply so I put in a borrowed unit and the machine burst into life. I cannot
see anything physically damaged on the power supply so it looks like a job
for someone a little more advanced than me. I understand old fashioned
rectifier power supplies but not switch mode versions!

Anyone know of anywhere in the U.K. where I could get a unit?

Thanks

Nick
