actually, that's overkill. you can get free bsd at freebsd.org and use a IIci or even a IIsi as a firewall and NAT for your cable modem. they have pretty good instructions there, i'll be doing that soon myself (though sadly it will probably be for a phone modem, i still can't get a cable modem way out here!). of course the freebsd route will also work on a power mac, it's just more machine than you need. it's also nice to have the firewall running freebsd as they are very, very good about security patches and checking the code for security problems in the first place, also it can help thwart an intruder since they now have to know how to beat the bsd firewall and your' mac os. (or even windows if you run both on your home network).
