I'm hoping someone can answer this question with some personal
experience. I own a PowerMac 7100/80 and I am completely happy with it.
Recently my Iomega 250 External Zip Drive (25-pin SCSI) seems to be
failing. Has anyone had any success in adapting the USB connection of
the Iomega 750 External Zip Drive so that it can be used on this
PowerMac. I can upgrade the system as far as 9.1 (750 requires at least
8.6) but I'm not sure if it will be compatible. When asked, Iomega said
that a third party adaptor could make the connection but they didn't
know if it could cause damage. If the 750 can't work does anyone know of
a dealer with new 250 SCSI drives? eBay is just out of hand for the
item... Many thanks.
You have a couple of options. First, you could use one of the ATAPI Zip drives (either 750 or 250) http://www.iomega.com/zip/zip_comp_chart.html internally with one of the Acard SCSI to IDE adapters http://www.acard.com/eng/product/scside/aec-7720u.html . Or, you could get a SCSI 250 Zip drive. You aren't going to get a USB drive working with a Nubus computer, sorry.
