They sound like phone net connectors. They network ethernet challenged Macs together over LocalTalk/AppleTalk. You should also have, or will need, some terminators for each of the end Macs. This website can explain it far better than I can.
http://www.atpm.com/network/setup/localtalk_adapters.html One of the neat things that you can accomplish is to network one or more Macs over the phone lines in your house. You will have to make sure that the outside lines of your phone jacks throughout the house are connected, but it is a simple way to get DSL download speed from your broadband connection without running cat-5 through the walls or down the hall. There is more to it such as having a router that does LocalTalk, such as IPNetRouter, but if you don't have an ethernet network or several Macs without ethernet cards it works. David > From: "R. A.
