Well, I think the faster and more reliable OS for the 6100 is the Mac OS 8.1, mainly for those that doesn't have so much RAM (from 16 to 32MB). But if you want to run newer software, and have got more RAM (above 32MB), you could install Mac OS 8.6, 9.0, or 9.1.
