I don't think so. Partitioning allocates use of the drive,
"slicing" it into logical individual drives and thus creating
separate maps of each partition. This should be done before
writing information to the drive.

The way I have done this in the past, is to boot from a system CD
(or external hard drive), save the existing drive info (drag the
drive icon to the exernal drive), load drive setup, partition
the drive, copy the image back to the preferred partition. Tedious,
but...
