WE had a lightning surge blow out a modem, and unfortunately seems to have
taken out the modem port as well. Its a 7100/66, and the literature lists the
ports as geoports.
Anyone know if its easy to either fix the port, replace the port, or get a
splitter of some sort so that we can use the modem and printer at the same time,
without having to plug and unplug cables.
Fixing the port involves finding what's blown and replacing it. It is likely a surface mount package, not a simple thing to replace. The port is on the logic board so replacing it involves replacing the board. That may be the best fix if you can find a board cheap (or a whole computer these days).
