There were two makers of accelerators for the first generation (Nubus) Power
Macs, Newer Technologies and Sonnet Technologies. Amazingly, Sonnet appears
to still make them now (a 500-MHz model!).

This vendor (below) still sells both products (used or new). They seem to
be knowledgeable and offer a warranty, even for the refurbished ones.

These things also come up regularly on eBay, but eBay sellers often do not
have a way to test these old cards, so beware. I know from my own
experience that some of the NewerTech cards that came out brand new from a
shrink-wrapped box did not work properly because they made some batches with
a design defect. For what it's worth, it may be better to buy one
advertised as being pulled from a working Mac, if you are getting one from
an eBay seller. If it has been working, it tends to keep working.

In both cases, if you want to use the PDS video card, you need to have a
pass-thru connector. The NewerTech card comes with the connector attached
(unless it is advertised as missing or disabled). The Sonnet card needs an
attachment, which is extra cost. From my experience, the PDS video cards
are faster than (or at least as fast as) even the best Nubus cards, and they
have fewer compatibility issues. Unless your Nubus video card is one of
those former high-end SuperMac/Radius models such as the Thunder24, I would
try to use your Apple PDS AV or HPV card.

I have the 300-MHz version of the NewerTech G3 card (in a Power Mac 8100).
It has been working reliably for many years (bought it new back when it was
"new").
