Hey listers.. So I've got a PowerMac 6300 (performa) running OS 8.6 I've basically had since it was bought new. I installed a 4 gigabyte hard drive recently to replace the 1 gigabyte drive that was stock, and it has 64 megabytes of RAM. It still has the stock CD-ROM, an Apple 600i, I believe.
I would like to install a CD burner in place of the original 600i internal CDROM. I would like to know what my options are, and what drive you folks would recommend? Would I want to upgrade to OS 9.1 or should I stick with 8.6? I am very happy with the performance of 8.6 on this machine. Would 9.1 be any faster or would I need 9.1 for CD burning? After I get a drive and install it, what software would I need to make use of the burner? Thanks in advance, Nat -- 1st-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
