afaik the DOS format is only supported from 8 upwards in the OS... I might 
be mistaking, but that's what I remember... you can check it out somewhere, 
read that on some site... if it has support for fat, I guess it should work 
no matter if it's ZIP or Floppy...

I'm much a beginner in Macs, though, and might be wrong :)

Good question. The original poster is using OS 7.  Does OMEGA have a 
driver
for PC formatted Zips that will mount them in OS 7?

Recently I had to convert some old PC formatted SyQuest carts to CD. 
Usually
the SE/30 with OS 7.5.5 does the job with Mac formatted carts but with PC
carts it gives a message unrecognized "DOS formatted" and would not mount 
them.
All third party OS 7 compatible drivers like Mt Everything, FWB, SCSIProbe 
and
others did not help.

With OS 8 on a 6100 there was no problem mounting PC formatted 
carts. --glen
