I've been given a Performa 6200CD in excellent condition and all's working well. Have MacOS8.1 installed and enjoying using all the old Classic apps. I have one question however: the rectangular LED-type lens on the upper right hand side to the right of the floppy disc slot; it never seems to light up and I'm stumped as to just what its purpose might be. Perhaps it is not an LED at all? The fact that it never lights up apparently isn't affecting the performance of the old machine at all. Thanks to anyone on the list for helping me satisfy my curiosity about this feature.
It's an InfraRed remote control sensor. Several Macs had the option of a video input or TV/Video input board. The remote had Power, channel, volume and a few other buttons, IIRC.
