Seen on the ausrave list, but as it mentions Jeff Mills of interest to 313 as well....

I've got to say that I agree - a definite memory to be cherished. My only negative is that it was a little too packed. Navigating was always a difficulty. Especially in the Hardware room where I spent most of my night Though I did manage to find the refuge of the tiered scaffolding at the front right of the dance floor (facing DJ). And now I'm pissed off cos I left during Simon Digby's set, thinking there was only an hour to go. Guess I missed out . Entry was no probs as we knew people - our crew car park pass avoided all the hassles. CJ Bolland got me hyped. Will E Tell was very entertaining. And Jeff Mills had me riveted. I sat there mesmerised as he locked three records together so tight they were phasing, then brought in the drum machine over the top. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen and heard for myself. For a DJ and amateur producer who has been lacking the inspiration, motivation and drive to keep at the DJing and Producing, this was a much needed tonic. Mr Mills had me close to tears - I can't explain why, but I was moved. I'm sure it was just some renewed sense of hope and purpose for me. But I was moved nontheless. And so were the crowd. En Mass. I have _never_ seen a group of people that large pulsing with such overjoyed rythmic enthusiasm. The vibe was simply brilliant. Astounding. I couldn't help but get up and go nuts.... For those there at the end of Jeff's set, I was the crazy fool in the black T-shirt on top of the front right tiered scaff throwing my arms in the air.... I know that doesn't help much given the 8 odd thousand folks there in that one room. But a few ppl stopped to get a photo of our area going nuts, so maybe someone noticed how much fun we had. :) Other areas I checked out were pretty much not me... even the Future 2000 and Acid Tekno City areas didn't do it for me... and I had been an acid and trance DJ for 4 years until recently when I moved into more techno and electro styled music. Hearing Moloko - Sing It Back in the house Train left me shaking my head as I swiftly left after... errrhm, 20 seconds. The only area that interested me other than Planet Hardware was thge breaky part near the ferris wheel. Whoever dropped in Uberzone had me swinging fairly hard. Anyway - for someone who was unsure about spending NYE 2000 at "just another rave" I was given one of _the_ nights of my life. A big thankyou to everyone who attended for helping create that vibe, and to the organisers who gave me such a great experience. Who knows what happens from here? I might even put my new found (or re-discovered) passion for music into making some new tunes, or actually getting off my butt and doing a demo tape or something crazy like that. :) I would include my comments on Summa Dayze - but this is Aus_RAVE_ after all. If it were Aus_CheesyDanceParty_ then maybe my comments would be appropriate. Lots of attitude on display there - too much. Though surprisingly the crowd there still got into Will E Tell....? Other than that my only observation was that the Y2K bug has been one of the biggest fizzers ever! Happy 2000 friends. Marky __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
