Measured by the the highest standards,
which Marco Carola deserves, this is a
dull and uninspired release continuing
the relative decline of this label since
it peaked with 3rd Question early in '99.

I don't have a comprehensive discography
but Carola came to my attention via
excellent deep techno on the Design,
Zenit & Ante Xenit labels.

He moved to Germany from Naples and produced
quality but old style THUMP-THUMP-buzz-whir
material most notably for the Swedish school
labels like Primate and Primevil. Recently he
has moved on to attempting deep tech house in a
sub Joel Mull mode. Hence Question.....

He has now reputedly moved to London so
we may see a further change in style...

His great strength as a DJ is an ability
to churn out deep polyrythmic dancefloor
techno that sparkles and crackles right
across the frequency range.

He can keep 3 decks running simultaneously.
Very fast. Getting a track in, moving to the
next deck, changing the disk and moving on
immiediately. For upward of an hour.

Hence, I suspect, the volume of question style
material, the bumping and complex bottom end
and relative lack of high register action.

His most interesting work this year, apart from
3rd Question, is a rmx of Pressure Funk on Soma.

Locals or visitors to London on Thursday 27th Jan
might like to know he is playing at ROTL from 19:00 to
11:00. This is a free techno night with 7k
system in a pub basement which has caught the popular
imagination recently with appearances by DJ Sneak,
Adam Beyer, Ben Sims, Oliver Ho, Nathan Coles, Terry
Francis etc etc. Decks on the bar next to the beer
pumps and a clued up, noisy, up for it crowd.
(Sun & 13 Canton, cnr. Beak St& Gt. Pulteny St, Soho)

Also watch out for his friend from Naples
Gaetek (Gaetano Parisano) who's technical
skills are at least comparable to Carola.

er while I'm on in 'spotter mode....

Someone, I think Andrew Duke (soz if wrong ;-),
was bigging up Thomas Brinkmans wonderful
machine soul release on MvB. 'Soul Comfort'.
Kinda like The Famous Flames or Dr Strut
remixed by basic channel. New & Fresh.

Converts should watch the racks for a
second 12" release (not on CD this time)
entitled 'J.B.'.

Also look out for:

> A Nov & DJ Knigge:'Crane A.K.',Force Tracks,(Ger)
