Ouch!!
what exactly is going to get ugly? Are you going to make
me wear a diaper, stick a pacifier in my mouth and force me to dance

that's fuckin ugly.
Agreed. Actually, I just tend to be overly defensive about the music I
love most - west coast S.F style house, preferrably deep.
I can recall having a conversation with our very own Derek Plaslaiko, (while
watching Richie play on a 909, decks & EFX at the last
13-Below) during which he implied that the term "west coast deep house" is
an oxymoron. So now I'm on a mission: I have a nice long recording to put
in his hands next time we meet...
Incidentally, I don't generally equate Farina with deep, but if you've ever
heard his Imperial Dub Recordings mix CD, you cannot say that is not deep!
He manages to strip much of the cheese that comes with Dubtribe tracks away
via remixes and such.
P.S. Farina's still pretty ok but if you ever see the Wicked crew >play
they are really nothing to marvel at....unless of course you >are easily
impressed.
As I wrote their names in my prior email, I was thinking this might come
up. I didn't list them based upon their current state, which is lacking
(yep, I've seen them play recently both together and apart, and I'm sorry to
say it was lackluster), but on the way they used to be. I'll spare you the
"back in the day" speech so as to not induce vomiting, but suffice to say I
have some good recordings.
They used to really build a night together, not just a bunch of dj's that
tried to outshine their friends/partners, but working together for the sake
of the event and those present.
Just my opinion. I have an asshole too.
