i mostly agree with the last post, but i'll add a bit-- i really enjoyed carlos & craig's set. i saw them both on sunday at current, and it was impressive to hear such a differenent vibe as solar handled so well. i think people actually danced the most to their set.
the grand pubahs are straight up entertainment: techno meets kool keith meets wayne newton. paris' schoolgirl wig and his sctick had the crowd in stiches. i can see why they would be signed to a major--you need that large persona to _sell_ in this mtv era. carl & kenny, like john said, are not known as dj's. but they are blessed with the gift of fabulous taste. and it was fascinating to see them communicate to each other over the decks. it was a fun night, well worth the drive (this was actually the 1st time i ever made it to solar)...but i do wish the lights had been dimmer. in fact, although it was extremely crowded, the lights were the only thing i heard any complaints about. and as far as future solar events-- they announced last night to look for its return in a couple of months, but at a different venue. perhaps jon could confirm this? kelli Subject: RE: (313) review of solar last nite > It was pretty fabulous.
