I think alot of the larger grand scale events will always focus on that
stuff, just because they are who they are. though the one good (maybe bad
too) about WMC is the chance to get to hear stuff and see talent you
wouldn't normally be exposed to.
Last year there was plenty o house to be heard. DJ Heather ROCKED the Om
Records party and the conference and those downstairs got to see Armand Van
Helden fall off the stage (giggle and a pass to hell). Mark Farina was
scattered everywhere. Alton Miller did a beautiful set at the very small
Transmat shindig...and lets not forget Mantra at the Tantra-thank you PLANET
E!! Also the pool party at the Raleigh/Giant Step Records.
What I know so far..which is little is that the Giant Step pool party thing
is a fund raiser this year. Its 10dollahs to get in, rather than the normal
"invite only" system they do. If you are in NYC tickets are at Dance Trax
beginning in March, and of coarse available in Miami as well-I just don't
know where.:P i went to this last year, and it was great (except the rain
out), this is an annual thing they do and the two ladies that do this do it
right.
Black Nation is said to be doing something which might be backed by
PlayBoy...man get Absolute as a second sponsor and things will really get
busy! hehehe.
I also remember reading at the end of a PlanetE Press Release that they are
conjouring up something for down there???.
The party on top of the Sony building wont be done by Sm:)e, its beeing done
by DB of F1-11 Records (which is a label of Warner Bros.)
..thats all i know...my attendence there is still a possibility but still
unknown. I hope I get down and get to meet everyone. For HOTELS check The
Clay, its a VERY nice hostel also just type in "miami-hotels" into your
browser, and you should get a bunch. I recommend staying around 14th and
Collins,or on Ocean Blvd,Lincoln b/c thats in walking distance to many of
the venues,shops and beach.
If ya haven't- check out the womb (www.thewomb.com) to get in the miami
mood. My biggest observance of miami was that I never saw so much skin in
one city....:)
have fun.

Last week on a trip back home to Clearwater I took the time to look at all
the flyers and see if more of a varity of music had become more
popular<breaks still rule supreme as real 'techno' in 95% of everyone's
eyes>. But i did see many that were labled WMC event and none other than a
line up of breaks, trance, jungle, and a little bit of house for the 4 that
I
saw. I know there are others but it just kind of amazed me that they
couldn't break away from the breaks obsession for events related to the
conferance seeing the kind of talant they are pulling to the city at that
time.
