Hi all,
I am proud to have the honor of announcing our next full-scale event. This
party celebrates the anniversary of last year's
"Clavius Bass", which took place on the same weekend. However, it's not
called "Clavius Bass II", because that is just not our style -
we feel that every party should have it's own theme and focus.
So, in keeping with PLURkids mission of taking it deeper and deeper each
time, we bring you:
--------------------------------------------
PLURkids Obscured -- Saturday, June 3, 2000
--------------------------------------------
Featuring performances by:
- Kevin Yost (i! Records, Pennsylvania/NJ)
After pursuing this artist for a very long time to play one of
our events, we are delighted to finally bring him for an
extremely rare Detroit appearance. His own unique blend of
Caribbean influenced percussion and jazz/house improvisation
have fused together to create an impressive series of
influential releases, remixes for such artists as Josh Wink,
and headlining dates in Germany, Japan, Switzerland, England,
France, Canada, and the US.
- DJ Fluid as Afro-Mystic (Fluid Motion/Afro-Mystic/
Om Records, San Francisco)
Meet Chris Smith: DJ, Producer, and founder of Om records, host
to some of SFs best talent, including Mark Farina, who recently
released "San Francisco Sessions" on the Om Label. Reviewers from
Urb, Mixer, Lotus, Massive, and others have described Afro-Mystic
as "The soul of Afro-Latin rhythm meets futuristic techno-funk
...refreshingly exotic, smooth and intricate...this is pure
fluid motion, and nothing short of inspirational." We couldnt
say it better ourselves.
- DJ Steven Sacks (Premium Soulsonic Megajive, San Francisco/Atlanta)
Witness the return of this popular PLURkids resident, celebrating
the one-year anniversary of his first Detroit appearance for us
at Clavius Bass this weekend last year, and his new mix cd,
"Live at Lush.
- DJ Huggie (Global Energy Musik/PureMusik/GoVentures/Phatt Phunk
Records/ Funked Up Records/Energy Music Productions,
I Have Too Many Affiliations, Los Angeles)
*CD RELEASE PARTY*
We just had to ask this West Coast HouseTeknoTrance innovator
back after his incredible performance for us last year.
Expect to be taken on another journey by this man, launching
his new nationwide mix cd, "2012: Global Energy Muzik" right
here with us!
- Adam Caruso (PLURkids, Detroit)
Were always proud to have this DJ on our label, one of a select
few we have ever asked to be represented by us come see why we
have been so impressed.
- Jonathan Voigt (STATE:AWAKE, Ann Arbor)
Co-founder/organizer of an excellent series of drug-free events
held in downtown Ann Arbor, Jonathans style has people calling
him the "Mark Farina of the Midwest".
SOUND:
This party will feature a 150,000 Watt four corner Turbosound rig
installed and specially tuned to the space by our friends from
Cleveland, the one and only Midnite Blue. How we long for the old
days of Mike Fotias-tuned Burst sound! Well, we're delighted to
have on hand for this event perhaps the only company that can
approach their legendary quality.
LIGHTING:
We sat down with Jeff from Abstrakt and had a long talk about
what we want, and suffice to say that it is different from what
you have been seeing at a lot of parties. The first weekend of
June is always our gala event, and you can expect a level of
lighting design that exceeds even what we did at Clavius Bass
last year. Studio Spots, Technobeams, Emulators, Trackspots, and
if we can arrange it in time, a blue argon laser (yep, the space
is big enough for it!), plus a few suprises...
and oh yeah - NO SMOKE MACHINES!

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
This is a PLURkids event. That means we are all about Peace, Love, Unity,
and Respect. It does not mean that we tolerate drugs, violence, or bad vibes
of any kind. We will have people walking around who's sole job is to make
sure everyone is safe and having a good time. If you are there to cause a
ruckus or sell your shit, don't expect our firm but friendly security to be
so friendly when they eject you from the party! Please leave the anger at
home, or don't bother coming. If you have love in your heart, come, share
it, and be blessed - we'll see you there.
Kindest Regards,
Shane
