Hey Emma:

For those of you that do not know....there is truly an arrogance about our music, that, like it or not, needs to be outlined and defended.

It is exactly these self-same, white, corporate assholes that were and are still unable to see the vision of a music which changed the planet from the ghettos of both Detroit and Chicago. Detroit has change the world TWICE musically and yet have not been rewarded the second time around.

And unfortunately, thanks to people with your same perspective, it is exactly the guys from Oklahoma with stripper girlfriends who will mack off of Detroit/Chicago's vision and blood, sweat and tears.

The presumption is that young black men from Detroit simply were not intelligent enough to have fast forwarded the recording industry by creating in bedrooms studios what recording engineers from around the world had not even the imagination or wherewithal to envision. They were calling the derrick mays and juan atkins to find out exactly how they created the sounds that they did.

Further, Roland Corp. has never sponsored any of these guys, but you can bet for fuckin sure that they have been blatant and unabashed about sampling riffs and synths from many detroit artists on their keyboards, samplers and synthesizers.

So, you must understand the situation that you have naively blundered into giving your opinion upon. If you haven't paid your dues to the degree of the 12-15+ years of hardass work that these folks have done...you're mostly a wannabe and you must earn your stripes. It truly is MILITANT and rebellious music and driven by people that are equally inflamed and militant in their beliefs. The whole Peace, Love and Unity rave fallacy simply does not exist in hardcore urban America unless you're a young white person trying to be down...hence a wannabee. And Hell yeah, you will be resented. Perhaps rose colored glasses do not this indicate, but it is the truth.

Wannabes could very well turn into the next most admired producers. However until such time as they UNIQUELY undertake and produce some visionary heart and ass grabbing music...they will remain wannabees not only to us here on this list, but to the entire world comunity of folks, fans, producers and business peeps that HAVE ALREADY paid serious dues.

Get with the program and if you're gonna be on THIS list, watch, learn and show humility and respect!! Posturing with plastic body parts and ego protuding is exactly that.. nothing more. Word, Peter!

Respect is EARNED young guns and unfortunately even WORLD FAMOUS AND HYPED artists in our medium...do not have it from the true family.

You can PLUR yourself to nirvana, but without respect for the elders and teachers that have afforded you your present existence you'll eventually be humbled. I and many others like me are not going to go without because we've paid hardcore dues to be where we are.

It may simply be a scrap of bread to you, but you'll get a beatdown in my town if you reach for it uninvited and it ain't yours...no matter how hungry you are.

Peace,

Sonic Warfare Division Veteran

tsk tsk on a lot of levels.
*sigh*

your whole post reads as elitist and I can't see that 313 is about
that, though I wonder at times. It's about innovative electronic music and
people have to start somewhere. I hope it's also about those tones healing
people and a dream of a new world.

So wot if it's a home burnt CD at least they are making music and trying.
Stripping is decent money, the notion of a living wage is an anethema in
the USA *spit*

if you are talking about people more concerned with image than music, say
it.

*hmpmh*
