Dan Curtin - Pregenesis - 2xLP - Elypsia - ely022
Dan Curtin really needs no further introduction, so will jump straight to
the album, released on Elypsia after several delays. The albums opens very
soulful with the somewhat downtempo Fixation track and in the same style
with My lips are sealed. The rest of the album continues with these smooth,
somewhat introvert sounds, but also more deep dark as in Pregenesis. The
eight tracks bring a fine mixture of diverse rhythms, synths and sounds,
but all still with a techno feel, with as highlight the track Queen Street.
High quality album, one of his deepest things.
I definately agree, and in my opinion some of the best Curtin material ever.
I have been playing cuts from this album since I got it, with "Pregenisis"
being my fave. Preceeded by the "Through The Nexus" 12", I have had both in
heavy rotation, and I dont see them leaving my crate any time soon. Both top
notch releases, as expected from Mr. Curtin. Look for his upcoming release
on Residual Recordings, a bit housier than the Elypsia projects, but still
very recognizable as a Dan Curtin release.
