Ben,
I went down to the End myself and was more than disappointed, having
travelled down to London expecting to hear Derrick May and them having to
put up with Charlie Hall was such an anti-climax, apparently Derrick was
stuck in Amsterdam, whose fault that is I don't know.
I was so pissed off I left at 2 o'clock another rumour going around was that
Carl Cox might have been coming back to London from Homelands and bringing
Kevin Saunderson with him, did he show at all ??
Some of my friends went to Fabric to hear Rolando play only to be refused
entry because they were male (Sexism eh ? thats dangerous) So after that
they came to the End only to be let down again.
If it's any consolation Ben once you here Derrick spin it will have been
worth the wait. Hopefully He'll play out in the UK soon.

Gary

btw has anyone else had this 'treatment' at Fabric, they have had quite a
few Detroit DJ's playing recently and I've heard a few other bad tales from
those nights so is it worth trying to go to see Kenny Larkin there on 10th
June ??

Subject: [313] Derrick May + Suburban Knight the End 27 th May?

In my previous message to 313 I asked what I should look forward to in
seeing these two at the End on Saturday (here comes the sob story): I'm a
19 year old student and have been listening to this music for a while now,
ever since a 1993 mix tape of derrick may, and as he never seems to play
close to where I live (the Midlands of the UK) I have yet to see him play.
I eventually got the weekend off work after a very hard time, and saved up
the money to go down to London, full of joy at finally seeing him and the
Suburban Knight, but both cancelled!!! Now I'm not sure what the reason was
for this (can anyone tell me what happened?) it may be legit, but I've heard
too many stories of Derrick not turning up. Now I love Derrick and have got
all of his stuff, and him doing this will not change my views on the guy but
it does upset me. We pay his wages and for him to do this so consistently
shows a blatant disregard for his many loyal fans who I'm sure have
travelled far further than me.
Still love u Derrick + hoping there was a real reason for the no show to
prove me wrong.
Ben
