nope it just has to do with expectations And that's always been a nice *breakup* thingy (I always love those stories, they may not be objective in some ways but it creates a better view on Detroit) I think Carl wants to push Alan further to see what he can come up next year (like his tresor release wich was a good step) but once again that are my views on the story
